The Train and Equip Midwives for Safer Births in Tanzania and Nepal project builds on three concepts originating from Laerdal’s previous Safer Births project: 1. NeoBeat – A novel newborn heart rate meter for guiding decisions and before and during newborn resuscitation. 2. Newborn Heart and Lung Simulator - A novel, self-directed training system with feedback and learning management. 3. Performance Data Management – A novel system to capture and report performance during newborn resuscitation and training. These innovations can improve the management of newborns who need facemask ventilation, can support proper timing of cord clamping and can help reduce improper stillbirth classification. The Project will further develop, implement and evaluate the Safer Births innovations with strategic partners who will report their findings within their organization, at main conferences and as input to the ICLOR 2020 Guidelines for Newborn Resuscitation. When industrialized, these innovations will be made available for sales by Laerdal Global Health, where the main opportunity is with our strategic partners USAID, UNICEF, Save the Children, American Academy of Pediatrics and Laerdal Medical with its 23 sales companies worldwide.
